Our approach to teaching RSHE
Relationships and health education will be taught to all children in Littletown JIN school. Topics are age appropriate, carefully building on children’s knowledge and understanding each year. Three aims run through the curriculum and these reflect the schools aims for this subject:
- to help to keep children safe
- to help to prepare them for the world in which they grow up, including the laws as they relate to relationships, sex, health
- to help foster respect for others and difference.
RSHE content will be taught in PSHE lessons (Personal, Social, Health and Economic education). Some aspects of relationships and health education will also be taught across other curriculum areas (e.g Science, RE, or in topic work), in assemblies and during special events/ weeks (such as anti-bullying week/health week/online safety week) and will contribute to pupils’ personal development and wellbeing.
